Objectives and Approach

The investment objective of the Fund is to provide a total return by investing predominantly in inflation-linked United Kingdom gilts together with an exposure to overseas equities. The Fund will invest predominantly in over 5 year index linked gits and in deposits, cash an/or near cash (including commercial paper, certificates of deposit and short dated gilts with a maximum three months to maturity). The overseas equity exposure will comprise exchange traded futures on the following indices (with target weightings): 1/3 S&P 500, 1/3 Eurostoxx 50, 1/6 Topix/Nikkei 225, 1/12 ASX200, 1/12 Hang Seng. The Fund may, subject to the investment objective and policy, invest at the Manager’s discretion in other transferable securities, money market instruments, derivative instruments and forward transactions and units in collective investment schemes (including use of stocklending, borrowing, cash holdings, hedging and other investment techniques permitted in applicable FSA Rules). Derivatives may be used for meeting the investment objective of the Fund as well as for EPM purposes.
