Joe Bauernfreund speaks to Stephen Peters of our Collectives Research team about the British Empire Trust, which he has run since October 2015.

The trust was established in 1889 and built a strong reputation by investing in a range of global equities and collectives but has undergone a challenging period of performance since the financial crisis. The value style of investing has been largely out of favour; yet the manager remains committed to investing in companies that appear to be significantly undervalued.

He suggests there are signs that the value investment style is making a comeback and shares with us his highest conviction ideas. In the video we discover what a ‘double discount’ is and how it can prove valuable to investors.
